We accept students of any race or ethnic origin. All the rights, privileges,
responsibilities, programs, and activities will be made available to each
student, provided the student meets our requirements and abides by the
policies of the school.
Definitions of Full and Part Time Enrollment:
Full Time: full days Monday through Friday. (Maximum of 10 hours per day)
Part Time: full days during a partial week or half days.(Maximum of 25
hours a week)
Ages of admission for our Early Childhood program are 2 through 5 years
of age and 6 through 12 years for our Elementary summer and After School
programs. We attempt to be flexible in our enrollment policies to suit
the individual needs of our families. Full time and part time registrations
are accepted subject to availability of space and accommodations.
Pre-placement observations are best scheduled during business hours of
8:30 to 5:00. The following forms are required by the state of Virginia
and need to be completed prior to placement.
- Registration form signed by parent or guardian, including the date
of last physical examination, and a $150.00 registration fee.
- Complete record of immunizations.
- Original Birth Certificate: view and record only
- Complete record of immunizations
- Written consent for child to receive medical treatment.
- Signed policies and procedures agreement from the Harbour Tugboats
Handbook.
- A signed fee and payment plan (Parent/Provider Contract) with a copy
to parent.
- A signed agreement for the childcare provider to provide transportation.
Parents or Guardians who take an active roll in the child’s up
bringing are required to participate in a verbal orientation with the
director before your child’s first day of school. This includes
meeting all the staff of Harbour Tugboats Daycare and visiting the child’s
classroom.

In the News!
Due to the unique nature of our program, local news media representatives
may occasionally visit Harbour Tugboats. If you should object to the use
of pictures or videotape for incidental news involving your child, the
Director needs to be notified immediately. Students interviewed by the
news media require parental consent. Parents will be asked to sign and
submit that form to our Tugboat office.
REGISTRATION, TUITION, CHILDREN’S SUPPLIES, PROGRAM BENEFITS,
WITHDRAWL, & TERMINATION
Enrollment in Harbour Tugboats Daycare requires a registration fee of
$150.00, one half of one month’s tuition, and your completed registration
forms. These requirements must be met prior to holding space or providing
care for your child. These fees are non-refundable.
At the beginning of each new school year by September 1st, parents must
re-enroll their child. Parents are required to complete up-dated registration
and medical forms and submit them to our office. A newly updated parent
handbook will be provided for parents at that time and new textbooks and
supplies will be ordered for each child. The Fall re-enrollment fee is
waived for those with a start date between May 30 and August 31st.
TUITION
Tuition is billed on a weekly basis.
Harbour Tugboats has been able to adjust our
tuition and still maintain our motto,
"Quality Education at Day Care Prices."

Full month tuition may be paid on the 1st Monday of each month.
All Tuition is due on Friday's before the coming week of attendance.
Tuition applies regardless of attendance. If your child is absent or
not scheduled on a due date, the due date still applies. Tuition payments
received after 7:00pm on the due date are considered late. Please
note that our late fees are much different than your other financial obligations.
It is imperative that you make your tuition payments on time.
Late tuition constitutes immediate cancellation of discounts. Full tuition
rates will apply to all late tuition.
Service will be suspended if payment is not received within six (6) business
days of the due date. A new $150 registration fee will be required for
reinstatement.
Account balances over $100 will carry a late fee of 10% finance charge
per week.
Each family is credited one vacation week per year with no charge. Please
notify our office in advance of your week you would like credited.
Harbour Tugboats will give clients at least 30 days written notice prior
to rate increases.
There is a $30.00 fee for returned checks. Acceptable forms of payment
are check, money order, cashier’s check, or automatic withdrawal:
NO CASH ON PREMISES.
For pick-ups after 6:30 p.m. there will be a charge of $5.00 within the
first five minutes, and $1.00 for each additional minute late. All fees
are non-refundable.
Parents of toddlers are responsible for keeping an adequate supply of
disposable pull ups.
CHILDREN’S SUPPLIES:
Parents are requested to label* with a permanent marker and supply those
items necessary for the proper care of your child:
- Toothbrush & a complete change of weather appropriate clothes
to be kept in child’s backpack.
- Nap/Rest time children will need a small mat, sheet, and a blanket*
(small pillow is optional). Bedding should be taken home every Friday
for laundering.
*No sleeping bags, please. We have limited space for storage and
they do not hold up well with frequent washings.
- Pull-ups & Wipes (potty trainers). Parents of toddlers are responsible
for keeping an adequate supply of disposable pull-ups.
- Necessary medications (refer to Medications section)
- Substitute food (for children with food allergies)
Comfort Kit Supplies
1 gallon Ziplock Bag, Emergency contacts, family picture, comfort letter,
space blanket, spare clothes; socks, pants, shirt, gloves, hat, &
special comfort item such as a small stuffed animal.
PROGRAM BENEFITS – what makes our program special?
Throughout the year Tugboats provides various special opportunities not
offered by other preschool/day cares.
- Daily Chapel services are held in which children are encouraged to
lead songs, stories, and prayers. Daily Plans describing your child’s
activities are written for all age levels in compliance with the A-Beka
Christian curriculum and Virginia’s Standards of Learning.
- Meals are provided for children: morning and afternoon snacks and
a hot lunch. . Breakfast is available to early arrivals. Children have
the opportunity to practice proper table manners and brushing their
teeth after meals.
- Video cameras are installed in each room to monitor safety and protection
of children and staff.
- Preschoolers have free access to computer activities.
- Creative Movement and Drama classes are offered weekly.
- Suzuki Violin classes are available weekly. (optional program)
- The Tumbling Tots program is offered weekly. (optional program)
- We provide low student to teacher ratios.
- Child Care Subsidy Program. If you have recently been on the state
subsidy program, you may qualify for this program. We will provide you
with this information upon request or you may apply through Social Services.
WITHDRAWAL
Clients who wish to discontinue childcare service with Harbour TugBoats,
must give three weeks (21 days) advanced notice of withdrawal.
Your child’s withdrawal date will be considered to be three weeks
from the date notice is given, and you will be billed accordingly regardless
of actual attendance.
If your child is withdrawn without notice, one month’s tuition will
be charged from the child’s last day of attendance.
Your child will be considered withdrawn without notice if you do not inform
Harbour TugBoats Daycare of any absences in excess of one week excluding
holidays. Please inform us (in advance if possible) of any absence.
TERMINATION OF SERVICES: Reasonable steps will be taken to avoid termination,
however, Harbour TugBoats Daycare may terminate services for any of the
following reasons:
Late payments, returned checks, or any other problems with payment of
tuition and fees.
Failure to honor the obligations listed in this contract, the Parent Handbook,
or in any written policies provided by the school.
Any actions by parents or children that adversely affect the program at
Harbour TugBoats Daycare.
Failure to cooperate with Harbour TugBoats Daycare in matters which the
school determines serious enough to warrant termination.
